Artist Statement

Through this series of work my aim was to explore ideas of absence and presence in woodland and forest environments.

I wished to evoke a sense of being immersed in a tree rich space: listening to the wind and seeing the light as they whispered and danced through the leaves on the multilayered and interlocked branches.

Using paper and acrylic spray paints, I focused on my thoughts of rhythm, form, light, space, depth with the aim to define an essence of rather than representation of, the subject matter and through this process of image making.
